Threatening Email - How to react

You have a threatening e-mail? Or worse, threatening more e-mail? How should we respond?

Let's see first thing you should not do.
Unresponsive. Do not threaten back.
Do not complain, their ISP and get their accounts closed. They destroy the evidence.

Now it's here, what you should do.
Should always take any threat seriously. You should immediately print out the danger and save the e-mail to a disc. Take the person to the local police stationand the report of a police force. Then follow with the police. Request an appointment with the detective assigned to your case. Be sure to follow-up.

Unfortunately, many police departments will not have an e-mail threat seriously. They will try to change the wording of threatening e-mails and try to turn on the alleged threat, can be interpreted in different ways to analyze. One can only say turn off the computer, change your e-mail and ignore.

If they sayThey do not have the resources they are looking for, in order to trace the e-mail address of the sender and are likely to find justice. Unlike CSI on TV, not many police departments now have a full time department have computer crime and are probably overwhelmed cases.

But do not despair. You can hire a private investigator that the time and the action to detect and identify the sender of the e-mail is a threat. An investigator who has specialized in e-mail inquiries toExperience in gathering and storing the documents you need for the court. Many times I have contacts with local police and can act as agent in dealing with the police to take action and help your case, again the attention it deserves.

If you decide that you need to hire an investigator, you should do your homework. Do a search on Google the name of the IP and see if recognized as an expert in email tracing and cyber stalking investigations.
